Take the plunge January 1, 2019 at Cherokee Lake in Jefferson City, TN and help us keep the rivers and lakes of East Tennessee Beautiful!
The Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council in conjunction with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, and Cherokee Lake Realty will be hosting the first annual East Tennessee Polar Plunge on January 1, 2019 at Cherokee Lake in Jefferson City, TN. Proceeds from the event will go to Keep the TN River Beautiful Foundation to help in their efforts to perform lake and river clean-ups, and to the Middle East TN Tourism Council to help promote the 9 lakes, the National Park, and State Parks in East TN.
Keep the TN River Beautiful is a non-profit focused on improving the health of the Tennessee River through education, litter cleanups and plantings along the riverbanks. The organization is the first Keep America Beautiful affiliate in the nation to focus on a river. The organization focuses along the entire stretch of the river and its tributaries.
"We are excited to be the beneficiary of the Polar Bear Plunge. Not only does this event help raise awareness of our beautiful waterways here in Tennessee, but the funding will allow us to reach more people along the river valley as part of our educational campaign."
Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council provides a forum for the travel industry of the sixteen county region of East Tennessee to increase the economic and community impact of tourism activity to the region and collaborates with programs of other organizations to serve the public interests of the region.
